Op 13 november zijn de nominaties voor The Game Awards 2023 onthuld!
Zowel Baldur's Gate 3 als Alan Wake 2 hebben de meeste nominaties ontvangen, met beide games die kans maken op acht awards, op de voet gevolgd door Marvel's Spider-Man 2 met zeven nominaties.
De genomineerde games voor de prestigieuze titel van Game van het Jaar zijn Baldur's Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder en Resident Evil 4 Remake. Opmerkelijk genoeg zijn er geen nominaties voor Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV of Final Fantasy XVI, terwijl die games toch goed werden ontvangen door de gaming community.
De uitreiking van The Game Awards vindt dit jaar plaats in de nacht van donderdag 7 op vrijdag 8 december. Naast de onthulling van de winnaars zullen ook verschillende aankomende games worden aangekondigd en gepresenteerd.

The Game Awards hebben door de jaren heen opmerkelijke winnaars gekend. Vorig jaar ging Elden Ring er vandoor met de prijs, terwijl It Takes Two in 2021 deze eer kreeg. In de jaren die daaraan voorafgingen ging de prestigieuze prijs naar The Last of us Part II (2020), Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019) en God of War (2018).
